Ayana Brown, (She/Her), LPC-Associate, Supervised by Stuart Young, LPC-S

Hey! My name is Ayana Brown. After serving honorably in the Navy, I worked in diverse environments including nuclear radiation safety, disaster management, and program analysis before embarking on my journey in the mental health field. I recently became an LPC-Associate supervised by Stuart Young, LPC-S. My LCDC-Intern license is pending.

I am the eldest daughter, born to immigrant parents in NYC. Let’s just say that I understand that family dynamics can be complex! I am a neurospicy nerd with an affinity towards helping the military, survivors of sexual trauma, those with C-PTSD, Caregiver, and overall social justice for the BIPOC community. In addition, I have been humbled by my experience walking alongside Seniors, the justice-involved, and those struggling with substance use. I have worked in nonprofits, private practices, and outpatient services.

I am a member of numerous counseling organizations including the Association for Creativity in Counseling (ACC), Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD), and the International Association for Resilience & Trauma Counseling (IARTC).

My approach is person-centered, strength-based, non-judgmental, and culturally affirming. My goal is to use my clients’ interests in our sessions because you are the expert on you. Sessions with me are an amalgamation of traditional talk therapy (CBT,ACT, DBT) and somatic experiencing. I am currently seeking certification in 2 trauma-focused approaches, EMDR and Brainspotting. I love learning ways to intersect performing arts, games, Eastern medicine, and trauma healing.

In 2024, I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from TTUHSC. I am trained in Mental Health First Aid for Adults. Besides that, I am an Emotional Emancipation Circle Facilitator, a Certified NLP Practitioner, a Certified Anger Management Specialist - I, and a Certified Mental Health Peer Specialist for the state of Texas. You deserve me at my best. To ensure you get the overflow, I dedicate time to walking on my treadmill while binge watching anime, documentaries, and pop culture shows. I also love new foods, music, and dancing unapologetically. In between classes, I catch upon video games and reading with my cat, The Notorious C.A.T.T. As much as possible, I travel! Seeking therapy shows an immense amount of strength and self-love. Together we will figure out how to use all that is right with you to get where you want to be.

Asante Sana,

Ayana
