Cassie O'Brien (She/Her), Graduate Intern
Hi there, I’m Cassie O’Brien (she/her)!I’m a graduate student pursuing my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Midwestern State University. My path has been anything but linear with years of teaching, research, data analytics, yoga, and even cheese-making. I hold degrees from the University of North Texas (2021) and Midwestern State University (2003). I’m am grateful to be under the supervision of Ashley Hubbard, M.S., NCC, LPC, LMHC at Vibrant Journey Counseling and Dr. Patrice Dunn, Ph.D., LPC-S at MSU Texas.
At the heart of my work is the intention to support people in finding peace within themselves and in their relationships. Whether you're navigating the weight of unresolved childhood trauma, the intensity of the teenage years, the transitions of motherhood/parenthood, or complications of family-of-origin dynamics, I bring warmth, patience, and an accepting presence into the therapy space. I hope that you’ll feel curious, calm, and truly seen when we meet. Informed by personal experience and grounded in respect for agency, I also support individuals living with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and individuals supporting the Deaf or Hard of Hearing. I approach life with a reverence for its complexity and gentleness for each person’s unique journey.
My work draws from internal family systems (IFS), relational cultural theory, trauma-informed practices, DBT and strength-based perspectives. I also bring a holistic lens—infused with insights from yoga and mindfulness—that honors the mind, body, and spirit. My practice is rooted in inclusivity, social awareness, and compassion. I believe therapy can be a space where we gently explore how social and cultural forces shape our mental health, while also building resilience and discovering ways to advocate for ourselves and others.
When I’m not in session or studying, you can find me outdoors soaking up the sun, wandering off trail, or noticing the tiny miracles in nature—like picking up a rock and finding a whole world underneath or how wildflowers bloom in unlikely places. I love hiking, hammocking, cooking elaborate meals (if someone else is on dish duty), and family road trips.
Sessions with me are $30. I look forward to meeting you, wherever you are on your path.
