Esteban Lopez (He/Him), Graduate Intern

Hello! I am Esteban Lopez, a graduate student at Midwestern State University working toward my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I earned my Bachelor’s in Organizational Leadership from South Texas College. I am currently completing my practicum at Vibrant Journey Counseling, under the supervision of Ashley Hubbard, M.S., NCC, LPC-S, LMHC, as my site supervisor, and Dr. Krystal Humphreys, Ph.D., LPC-S, as my university supervisor.

My professional experience consists of leadership and customer service roles, though in these roles, I resonate most with the connections I make with people. In my personal life, through my experiences growing up in a border town, I have seen how important community is and how resilience is key when facing adversities. Both in my professional and personal experiences, I have learned the value of empathy and support, which are the foundations of my counseling approach. As a counselor, my goals are to provide support through active and judgement-free listening, promote self-efficacy and wellness, and help individuals navigate life's obstacles in a safe, encouraging, and open environment.

I am passionate about supporting individuals through life's challenges. I am inclined to work with those experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and major life transitions, though I am open to supporting anyone in need. I find purpose in empowering individuals by providing skills and approaches to different adversities. I hope to bring a humanistic presence to the counseling room while expanding on my experiences with the cognitive behavioral and EMDR approaches.

In my free time, I am usually spending time with my partner and family. My hobbies include playing video games, reading, playing guitar and writing music, gardening, archery, and collecting vinyl records. In the spirit of promoting wellness, I also cook and spend time taking long walks with my partner. Additionally, when the weather is appropriate, I occasionally go on bicycle rides.

My fee is $30 per session.
