Lilymar Montenegro (She/Her), Graduate Intern
Hi! My name is Lilymar (Lily) Montenegro, and I am a graduate student at Midwestern State University pursuing my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am a jack of all trades, with experience in corporate office management, data manipulation & analysis, wedding officiating, and coaching. As an HSP (highly Sensitive Person), I am drawn to art, music, spirituality, and all things metaphysical. I have my very own personal testimony in healing after being diagnosed with CPTSD and an anxiety disorder. My healing journey has been paramount in how I show up in the world and with my clients. I understand a variety of complex situations that can deeply affect our quality of life, having overcome much of the same. I am passionate about helping sensitive individuals and introverts navigate the sometimes loud and chaotic plane we live on. My goal is to support clients as we work together to achieve personal empowerment and increased self-efficacy. I see sensitivity as a powerful gift that reminds us of the importance of feeling and how it can transform the world. In my free time, I enjoy exercising, traveling, meditation, and dancing.
I hold a business administration associate’s degree with an undergrad in psychology from the University of Houston. Additionally, I studied music and received vocal training at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music. I am bilingual and fluent in Spanish and English. A Venezuelan native raised in Miami FL, who relocated to Texas in 2004. I am under the supervision of Ashley Hubbard, M.S., NCC, LPC, LMHC, at Vibrant Journey Counseling and Kayla Bryant, Ph.D., LPC-S at MSU.
My therapeutic approach integrates scientific understanding with evidence-based theories while leveraging spiritual dimensions to foster connection to the self and improve psychological well-being. The framework is informed by Gestalt therapy, which emphasizes present-moment awareness and personal responsibility, alongside Jungian psychology, which delves into the rich landscape of the unconscious and the process of individuation. My approach implements theories of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with Somatic awareness. By blending these modalities, I cultivate a holistic environment that addresses the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. I strive to assess and guide using a case-by-case approach, as I believe that no two individuals are alike; therefore, each person requires a customized clinical approach.
I look forward to our work together.
My fee is $30 per session.
